This is a hilltop park surrounded by 380 acres of land that is covered in a variety of flora and fauna. The park is adorned with a 40 ft statue of lord Shiva and his consort, Parvati. It boasts a panoramic sea view of the eastern coast of the Indian subcontinent. A ropeway, the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh, connects Appurghar to Kailasagiri. This site is loved by many Bollywood directors who, if you are lucky enough to find, could be around directing a scene for an upcoming film! Another attraction of this scenic hilltop park is the toy train that operated at the top of the hill. You can hop on and take a ride at a price below Rs. 50 for twenty minutes! The best time to take a ride in this toy train would be the winter because the heat of the afternoon sun in the summer could be quite damning in the non-air-conditioned compartments.  

4. Simhachalam, Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple  

This temple is revered for the legendary deity, lord Vishnu, who, as pre legends, appeared in this temple to save his pious deity Prahalada from being burnt. A structure that resembles a fortress from the outside and is situated 800 meters above sea level, this temple contains five gateways. The architecture is a mixture of the styles of Cholas, Chalukyas, and Orrisan. For all those who are seeking the spiritual, this is one of the places you must visit!

5. Beaches
     
  • Ramakrishna Beach: Lovingly called RK beach by the locals, this was a virgin beach that was rarely visited two decades ago.

  • Palm Beach: A short distance from RK beach is beach that has bits of greenery around the sand. It is a picnic spot.
  • Yarada Beach: Pristine beach with safe waters so you can totally get your swim suit along! And it’s only a half-hour drive from Vizag.
